Satellite’s gone
Up to the skies
Things like that drive me
Out of my mind

Drivin’ Sister

Shot Of The Day: April 23, 2017

QOTD:
Drivin’ sister rock’n’roll
She’s got feel on the wheel
Drivin’ sister rock’n’roll
She don’t make with no brakes

Drivin’ sister rock’n’roll
She’s an automobeat on the street
Drivin’ sister rock’n’roll
She’s much too much on the clutch

— Ian Hunter

Backstory: I met Ian Hunter in 1979. We talked about a new singer he had produced – a guy named Billy Idol whom Ian thought had ‘star potential’ – and about feeling old. The touring was wearing Ian down. It’s 2017 and he’s still touring. When you’ve got petrol in your bloodline you can’t slow down. This one is for Holly – my absolute favourite automobeat on the street. We rode many a mile in my old Mustang, from River Road, along the Anthony Wayne Trail, to Blairmont Avenue. — TAG

Locale: Inside a Memory – a pack of Marlboro reds, a six of Little Kings, and an eight-track playing Mott the Hoople.

Equipment: Nikon AW120 (top/colour) – Nikon D5500 / Sigma 18~200mm f3.5-6.3 DC (bottom/monochrome).

Little Red Corvette

Shot Of The Day: April 20, 2017

QOTD:
Little Red Corvette
Baby, you’re much too fast
Little Red Corvette
You need a love that’s gonna last.

— Prince

Backstory: In 1983 I would sit on my second story porch – reclining in a hammock, a blender set up on a small table, next to a cassette player. I’d sip Pina Coladas and listen to 1999. Those were days – they disappeared into my rear view far too quickly. RIP Prince, thanks for the amazing music. — TAG

New Order at Radio City – Sold Out

New Order at Radio City - Sold Out
Superior performance. In the old days Bernie would exhibit no emotion – see the video ‘Pumped Full of Drugs (PFD)’ if you’re not familiar with their early persona(s). Last night Bernie was dancing, clapping his hands, joking with the audience, etc. Phil Cunningham on keyboards and guitar is a great addition to the lineup and Tom Chapman (bass) played all of Hooky’s lines perfectly. The core members: Bernie, Stephen and Gillian were just plain great. As a keyboard player I love Gillian, she’s not Rick Wakeman but she is perfect for New Order. Great show, the encores were a very nice tribute to Ian Curtis. “Joy Division Forever” indeed. Here is the setlist:

The Haunting Of Hill House

Shot Of The Day: April 14, 2017

QOTD: No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream.
— Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House

Ruby Tuesday

Shot Of The Day: April 11, 2017

QOTD:
She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don’t matter if it’s gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes

— Rolling Stones
