A New Vision

Shot Of The Day: November 12, 2017

Once the religious, the hunted and weary
Chasing the promise of freedom and hope
Came to this country to build a new vision
Far from the reaches of Kingdom and pope
Like good Christians some would burn the witches
Later some got slaves to gather riches
But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands, to court the wild
But she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

America, where are you now
Don’t you care about your sons and daughters
Don’t you know we need you now
We can’t fight alone against the monster

Backstory: Jorge didn’t want his picture taken initially. After all, who is this strange man with a badge (press card) hanging from his pale neck? But I assured him I liked his scarf – and hence the request. His attitude changed immediately…of course it wasn’t just his scarf. I saw a human being behind that scarf. Why can’t our leaders? (When I was young Steppenwolf Live was on my turntable constantly. I still think Monster should be required listening in Junior High School social studies classes.)

Locale: Stapleton Baby, Love It Or Leave It.

Equipment: Nikon D7000 / AF-S Nikkor 50mm f1.8 G
