Cool To Be You

Cool To Be You
Shot Of The Day (2): July 31, 2016

QOTD:
But it must be pretty cool to be you
with your brothers at your back, protecting you
it must be pretty cool to know you belong
isolated my whole life counting scars in the land of the smiling knives
yes I’m envious it’s true, but it must be cool to be you.

— Descendents

Freak Show

Shot Of The Day: July 29, 2016

QOTD: So, step this way, folks come on in, you know you can’t resist
Come in and make your mundane lives look like the kiss of bliss
Everyone comes to the Freak Show, to laugh at the freaks and the geeks
Everyone comes to the Freak Show but nobody laughs when they leave.
— The Residents

Beneath The Shadows

Shot Of The Day: July 27, 2016

QOTD:
Morning and another night
lies broken tossed in the shadows
Teardrops litter the pavement
nighttime dies with the day.
— T.S.O.L. (True Sounds Of Liberty)

Backstory: I really like the design on this old grate especially when it’s wet. Teardrops litter the pavement. Regarding the music: hardcore band TSOL pissed off the purists with this sophomore effort (Beneath The Shadows). Goodbye hardcore, hello art. This is my fave TSOL song off of my fave TSOL album. — TAG

Soft Focus

Shot Of The Day (2): July 26, 2016

QOTD:
One day I lost my face in a crowd
I tried to call it back, the color ran into the sand
I’d worn this face before now,
and looked but through jaded eyes
— TSOL (True Sounds Of Liberty)
[click here to view full size image]
Backstory: I’m used to photographing people who need some emotional support to be able to relax in front of a camera. Kwue Molly has no such problem, he’s a joy to photograph. Kwue is one of Staten Island’s best muralists. And a great guy as well. He ‘curates the neighborhood’ – from West Brighton to Rosebank. If there is a guy who refuses to lose his face in the crowd, it’s Kwue. Rock on Brother. — TAG

You Can Do Magic

Shot Of The Day: July 25, 2016

QOTD:
I never believed in things that I couldn’t see
I said if I can’t feel it then how can it be
No, no magic could happen to me
And then I saw you.
— Russ Ballard
[click here to view full size image]
Backstory: A few candles from my friend Jose’s botanica and two primary drives (according to Freud): Eros and Thanatos. The song was written for America by Russ Ballard of Argent fame. God gave Rock N Roll to you. Lead vocal on this one is by Gerry Beckley. (I saw America in 2009, many years after their heyday. They were still great). — TAG
